Studies that have been carried out in the field of mental health have concluded that when we interact with animals, build a bond or simply go out into nature and see a deer or a fox, it releases a hormone within our brains called 'Cortisol' and our blood pressure naturally starts to decrease, as we feel significantly calmer within ourselves.
On a side note, how cute are these donkeys?...
Science has also found that those of us who have pets within our lives not only have a friend who'll offer unconditional love but our furry friends give us many more benefits, including a reduction in our levels of anxiety. They also help us to become relaxed, help us to feel more confident within ourselves and they never judge us, even when we do really weird things when people are not around!
Don't pretend you don't, remember if you're talking to yourself, you're talking to a genius ;).
As well as providing emotional support and understanding, animals can also help us with our physical health, especially dogs and horses. Engaging in exercise will enable our brains to release endorphins - the things that make us feel good!
Going out in nature and listening to birds sing, can be enough to make anyone feel at ease...unless it is raining.
